College Football Playoff national championship odds are out for the 2024-25 season via FanDuel Sportsbook, which provided an early look at which programs will be in the conversation as the postseason expands to 12 playoff participants for the first time.
Opening prices for annual favorites and the nation’s most talented rosters weren’t all that surprising, but one noticeable exclusion outside of the top 15 contenders was Washington. The Huskies, one win from the national title in Kalen DeBoer’s second campaign, are +5000 to win next season’s national championship with the belief being the team takes a step back after expected 2024 NFL Draft losses, including quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and edge rusher Bralen Trice.
The expanded playoff next season is designed to increase the stakes in college football’s postseason, attract additional viewers and add more parity to the national title picture. Under the new format, the six highest-ranked conference champions will receive automatic bids. The field is then filled out with the six highest-ranked teams remaining. The highest four seeds receive opening-round byes.
