Week 10 begins the final push for the College Football Playoff. It is the last week of games before the selection committee unveils its first batch of rankings, it opens the always-thrilling month of November and it promises to offer clarity in conference title races and whittle down the number of teams vying for at-large spots in the back end of the inaugural 12-team Playoff bracket. The key slate features a number of massive games, like the one between Ohio State and Penn State.
The Buckeyes and Nittany Lions are squarely in the mix for a first-round Playoff bye but almost certainly need to win out in order to secure that critical postseason advantage. The loser of Saturday’s battle will have a difficult time getting into the requisite Big Ten title game.
Each of the other Power Four conferences feature at least one game with league championship implications, and there are a bevy of other at-large hopefuls in action, too.
