Two more of the nation’s top 2024 prospects came off the board of the weekend as Wednesday’s National Signing Day fast approaches. Burley (Idaho) High five-star receiver Gatlin Bair went public with his plans to attend Oregon, choosing to play for head coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks over Michigan, among many others.
Oregon moved up to No. 3 in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings with Bair’s pledge, set for its highest finish in the 247Sports era dating back to 2010. The 6-foot-1, 194-pound is perhaps the fastest player in the class, boasting a 10.15-second 100-meter-dash time, and is tabbed by 247Sports as the No. 6 receiver in the cycle and No. 27 prospect overall.
North Palm Beach (Fla.) The Benjamin School Top247 edge rusher Amaree Williams finally let everyone know that he put pen to paper for Florida State during the three-day early signing period in December, making him one of the jewels of this Seminoles class that ranks No. 12 nationally. Williams is a high-upside pass rusher with NFL pedigree (his father Moe played 10 seasons at the highest level) who boasts elite speed and explosiveness for a defensive end.
Bair and Williams were just a couple of the remaining handful of prospects whom college programs were waiting on announcements from as this 2024 class is all but wrapped up.
Georgia has already clinched the No. 1 class for the third time in the Kirby Smart era. Alabama comes in at No. 2, highlighted by Kalen DeBoer and the new staff’s humungous win on the trail Jan. 24, convincing five-star receiver Ryan Williams to rejoin the fold over Auburn, Texas and Texas A&M, among others. Williams will put pen to paper on Wednesday. DeBoer and company also recently landed another Top100 recruit in edge rusher Noah Carter, who will sign this week. Oregon, Miami and Ohio State round out the top-five classes.
As we head down the stretch, 247Sports gives you the latest on a few more blue-chippers finalizing their plans.
