Top247 rank: No. 42 QB
Gabriel is perhaps the most intriguing forever QB possibility on this list. If you think you’ve been watching Gabriel forever already, you have. He began his starting career at UCF in 2019 as a true freshman. But due to the 2020 COVID season and a season-ending injury he suffered after just three games in 2021, the Sooners’ Heisman candidate could choose to come back to college for a sixth year.
Whether or not that happens in Norman is a compelling question, though, because of the presence of true freshman five-star QB Jackson Arnold, who’s widely considered the Sooners’ future. Gabriel’s options are all intriguing: He could test the NFL waters, he could stay at Oklahoma and run it back – potentially disrupting the line of succession — or he could enter the transfer portal once again, instantly becoming the biggest transfer prize of the offseason.
Given Gabriel’s current level of play, the NFL seems most likely, so the discussion might be a moot point. But Gabriel is certainly an intriguing name to track over the coming months.
