There is a lot of talk regarding the future of Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané, but if he has his way, it sounds like he would like to stay in Bavaria.
“I have confidence in myself, in my situation and in my club. We’re in transparent and relaxed talks. I want to play regularly again and enjoy my time on the pitch. We’re playing really well at the moment, the atmosphere is great. I want to be fully aboard this train and contribute my part,” Sané told Sport Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I feel really comfortable. The talks with Vinnie, Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are very good and trustworthy. My focus is currently only on FC Bayern. Everything else we’ll see in the coming weeks and months. We (Sané’s family) feel very comfortable, are at home in Munich and are enjoying it. That’s a big factor.”
When asked if Vincent Kompany could play a role in Sané staying, the 28-year-old indicated that he likes playing under his former Manchester City teammate.
“We know each other well. We’re playing attractive attacking football under Vinnie. We’re having fun on the pitch under him — that’s important for me and of course plays a role in my decision,” said Sané, who has a goal in each og Bayern Munich’s last two games.
Finally, Sané seemed to imply he would be okay with seeing his salary reduced (as has been rumored) if it meant he could stay with Bayern Munich.
“This topic is not in my mind at all right now. And for me, the salary is generally not my top priority. To be honest, I haven’t thought for a second about that. Like I said, it’s about the whole package. What’s my position? How does the club see me? What’s the philosophy of our game? Can we achieve something big together like winning the Champions League? Those are the things that are important for me,” Sané remarked.
