Algona (Iowa) High quarterback Alex Manske committed to Iowa State on Thursday night, choosing to stay home and play for head coach Matt Campbell and his staff over Texas A&M and a slew of others.
Several programs had the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Manske at the top of their board including Campbell and the Cyclones.
“I’d say just just the culture,” Manske said. “The coaches, and just wanting to stay home and play for the team I always have grown up watching.”
Manske is commit No. 1 for Iowa State in the 2025 cycle. He also had opportunities from the likes of Iowa, Kansas State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin. This is a heck of a start to the class for Campbell and company.
“Just the future he sees (for me),” Manske said of what stands out. “And he’s told me he wouldn’t want to lead this program with anyone else.”
He won’t have to.
As a junior Manske threw for2,498 yards and 29 touchdowns.
“Coaching staff is great,” Manske said of the Cyclones in the past. “All the relationships I’ve built with every coach on their staff has all been great, and how much interest they’ve been showing me.”
