The Dallas Cowboys are limping toward the end of the 2024 NFL season as they’ve suffered several tough injuries to key players throughout the year.
Dallas came into the season hoping to contend for a playoff spot, but instead is already looking ahead to the 2025 NFL season.
The Cowboys can still have an impact on the NFC playoff race, though, as they’re set to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders to close the campaign.
All three of those teams are squarely in the playoff race, and a loss to Dallas could have seeding implications.
Even without Dak Prescott manning the Cowboys’ offense, Cooper Rush has done a decent job at quarterback and should see some success against the Buccaneers.
Ahead of the Week 16 matchup, the Cowboys announced a series of roster moves.
“Cowboys place Trevon Diggs on IR, signed Andrew Booth to 53 (man roster), elevated Darius Harris, Dakoda Shepley,” Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 wrote on X.

Diggs suffered another brutal knee injury in Week 15 and is expected to need quite some time to recover.
Booth was brought up from the practice squad and could be in line for snaps with Diggs out, while linebacker Harris and center Shepley will serve as game-day depth.
Losing Diggs is a tough setback for the Cowboys, who will have some trouble guarding the likes of Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan.
The Cowboys might not have much to play for, but a win would at least generate some momentum heading toward next year.
