It was another disappointing day for Enzo Maresca and Chelsea. Re-live the action with the best facts and Opta data in our Crystal Palace vs Chelsea stats page.
Chelsea’s hopes of causing a stir in the Premier League title race took another blow as they could only draw 1-1 at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Blues had seemingly emerged as potential title challengers through November and December, but their latest disappointment made it four league games without a win.
Enzo Maresca’s side controlled much of the game and did open the scoring in the first half, only for Palace to peg them back to earn a commendable point of their own.
Cole Palmer put Chelsea ahead in style, providing a sweeping finish for his 13th Premier League goal of the season after a brilliant run and pass from Jadon Sancho.
For Sancho, it was a fourth assist of the season in the league, more than he ever managed in a season for Manchester United.
But Chelsea failed to build on that, wasting some presentable chances as they offered Palace encouragement.
The hosts ultimately levelled in the 82nd minute, a well-worked move culminating in Eberechi Eze teeing up Jean-Philippe Mateta for a simple finish.
This result follows the defeats to Fulham and Ipswich Town for Chelsea, with a draw at Everton preceding those.
As such, Chelsea will end the weekend just a point ahead of fifth-placed Newcastle, who beat Tottenham 2-1 earlier on Saturday.
