Arsenal FC was dealt a big blow in losing Bukayo Saka until some time in March. However, the Gunners could look at Bayern Munich to help cover that loss with Kingsley Coman:
Arsenal could reportedly look for a short-term deal to help replace injured star Bukayo Saka this January, with Kingsley Coman mentioned as an option. The Bayern Munich winger has had a fine career at the highest level, but he was available on loan in the summer after falling out of favour at the Allianz Arena.
And according to the latest from the Evening Standard, it seems Coman could be an option for Arsenal again ahead of January, with the France international perhaps ideal as short-term cover for Saka.
We probably won’t see Arsenal spending a fortune this January to bring in a new world class winger, but an experienced player like Coman could be a decent alternative. Coman is not currently at Saka’s level, but he’s surely still good enough to do a job for the Gunners for a few months.
Mikel Arteta surely needs to consider a signing like this as we’ve not exactly seen the best of other wide-players like Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli for a little while now. Even if Coman might be past his best, he’s still only 28 so could be eager to come to the Premier League and prove a point to some of his doubters.
Right now, it seems unlikely that Vincent Kompany would want to let Coman go. The manager seems to have an affinity for the Frenchman and surely values having Coman as part of the squad’s greater depth.
Real Madrid could be lining up a blockbuster move for Tottenham Hotspur center-back Micky van de Ven:
Injuries are forcing Real Madrid to look for defensive cover in January, and while Trent Alexander-Arnold currently hogs the headlines, Los Blancos could make a shock move for Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven, according to Relevo. The 23-year-old Dutchman suits the type of player Madrid want — young, fast and dominant. However, Spurs are unlikely to want to part with their star man, which is why Madrid are also looking into Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol and RB Leipzig’s Castello Lukeba. Meanwhile, Diario AS claims that Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid is “90% complete.”
The problem with Van de Ven is that it would be extremely hard to get him away from Spurs, while also costing a ton of money. At 23-years-old, Van de Ven is under Tottenham’s control until 2029 — meaning a premium would have to be paid to get him right now.
Van de Ven is a player who would seem to have the physical traits that Vincent Kompany desires at Bayern Munich, but the Bavarians probably are not all that inclined to break the bank for the Dutchman.
It would be interesting, though, right?
Bayern Munich is getting some much needed rest and relaxation, but Bavarian Podcast Works is still embracing the grind.
Our latest Bavarian Podcast Works show tackles some of the hottest topics at the moment, so let’s hop right into it. This is what we have on tap:
- The end could be near for the Alphonso Davies transfer saga. Will he re-up with Bayern Munich or will he sign with Real Madrid?
- A listener Q&A segment that harkened back to 2012 and a Robert Lewandowski injury, while also touching on a potential Bayern Munich acquisition of Tom Bischof, and some quality Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz discussion.
- A look at those rumors linking Bayern Munich to Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani and Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo.
Liverpool FC has been linked to Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané, but a move for the winger could be a longshot given the recent developments between Mo Salah and Liverpool regarding a contract extension for the Egyptian star:
Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Leroy Sané in 2025. We don’t expect Liverpool to do much in January, but there is a chance they will make a few new signings before the start of next season. Sané is a player Liverpool have been linked with, but there is some bad news on that front.
Sané’s future has been up in the air for quite some time now. Bayern have been trying to tie him down to a new deal, but there has been no agreement so far. TBR Football revealed in October that Aston Villa and Newcastle United are monitoring Sane’s situation, but he only wants to join a Champions League club if he leaves Bayern.
Liverpool would tick that box, and CaughtOffside have revealed that the Reds are the ‘most likely destination if he moves to the Premier League’. But, the report reveals that Sane’s preferred destination is La Liga and he has ambitions to play for Barcelona there.
A move for the German made sense as Mohamed Salah’s future was up in the air at Anfield. However, The Mirror revealed earlier in December that Salah is on the brink of signing a new contract that will keep him at Liverpool beyond the end of this season.
That completely eliminates the need for someone like Sane’. So, his preference of joining Barcelona over Liverpool should make no difference to the Reds. Slot, however, should prepare a succession plan on the right-wing. Liverpool should sign a young player who can learn from Salah for a couple of years before replacing him at Anfield.
If Harry Maguire wants to leave Manchester United, he has a few clubs already interested:
Napoli, Leicester City and Fenerbahce have all voiced an interest in signing Man Utd center-back Harry Maguire on loan in January.
The Winterpause allows us some time to reflect on the good, the bad, and the ugly from the first half of the season for Bayern Munich.
In this three-part series for Bavarian Podcast Works, we will breakdown each position group — Attack, Midfield, Defense — discuss each player and provide rating for how we feel they have played so far this season.
Chuck and Samrin break down the midfield group. Here is some of what the duo discussed on the show:
- The value of Joshua Kimmich.
- The promise of Aleksandar Pavlović.
- The underrated performances of Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer.
- The uncertainty surrounding where João Palhinha might fit into this midfield in the short-term and the long-term.
- Ratings on each of the players.
Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos might retire if he does not get picked up soon:
Sergio Ramos, a free agent after leaving Sevilla last summer, could retire if he doesn’t find a new club in January. The centre-back still dreams of a return to injury-ravaged Real Madrid.
The Dani Olmo registration issue at FC Barcelona has the Catalans trying to get creative. One of the measures being considered to get Olmo registered is to sell Frenkie de Jong at a discounted rate:
Barcelona are still trying to free up funds to re-register forward Dani Olmo, and could allow midfielder Frenkie De Jong to leave for a cut-priced fee of €20m in January.
Bayern Munich is on break, but there is still a lot to chat about — particularly with some of the rumors that we have heard this week. However, there was one topic being bandied about on social media that captured our attention — the trends of behavior with Bayern Munich fans and why being a supporter is a little more complex these days. Let get into all of that. This is what we have on tap:
- Bayern Munich’s recent run of instability has caused fans to act differently, but that is natural after so much change.
- Nico Williams? Jamie Gittens? Should Bayern Munich be willing to drop a lot of money on these players?
- If Nestory Irankunda wants a loan, Bayern Munich should oblige.
- A brief Entertainment Rundown as we tackle Happy Gilmore 2’s 2025 release (we are hoping it’s good!).
