Bayern Munich’s offseason plans could be hitting a wall given the rumors of Florian Wirtz’s potential contract extension with Bayer Leverkusen.
Could Marcus Rashford enter the picture for the Bavarians? Per at least one report, Bayern Munich will battle with Real Madrid for the Manchester United attacker:
Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has been linked with a move away from the Premier League club of late. Marcus Rashford is reportedly on the radar of Barcelona. According to Fichajes, the English international is valued at £40 million, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up. Meanwhile, Barcelona will face stiff competition from Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
Manchester United could be open to selling the player in the coming months, and it remains to be seen whether Bayern Munich and Barcelona come forward with an official offer to sign him. They have the resources to pay the £40 million asking price for the England international, and he could prove to be a quality addition for them. He is well-settled in the Premier League, and he is a proven performer at the highest level.
Signing him for £40 million could prove to be a major bargain in the long run. The player is at the peak of his powers right now, and he could be tempted to join either of the two clubs. They could help him push for major trophies in the coming seasons.
The Englishman could be an asset for most top clubs, and it will be interesting to see if Bayern Munich and Barcelona can help him regain his sharpness. Meanwhile, Manchester United are already lacking in quality when it comes to their attacking unit, and it will be interesting to see if they can replace Rashford adequately.
This does not feel like it would be a massive upgrade over the current Bayern Munich wingers, but if the club becomes hellbent on change, there could be a sentiment to make this kind of move.
Paris Saint-Germain could be looking to offload Randal Kolo Muani and Milan Škriniar:
⚠️ Randal Kolo-Muani can leave PSG in January, same situation as Milan Škriniar.
Both have been left out of PSG squad and it was Luis Enrique’s decision, as @FabriceHawkins reports.

Bayern Munich was riding high, but now might go stumbling into the break depending on on how motivated RB Leipzig is to help save the job of its head coach.
Obviously, Bayern Munich would rather not be in this predicament, but there is still this final game to right the ship.
Aside of the on-field action, there appears to be some serious movement on a couple of transfer situations that could dramatically affect the future of the club. Let’s talk about all of that and more on the latest edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show. This is what we have on tap:
- Reflecting on Bayern Munich’s poor showing vs. Mainz 05
- Florian Wirtz could be lining up a contract extension with Bayer Leverkusen…is that a good or a bad thing?
- It sounds like Leroy Sané needs a miracle to get a contract extension with Bayern Munich…does he deserve one?
Liverpool FC could be looking to make a massive move for Napoli attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia:
If Liverpool find themselves needing a new winger in 2025, they could join the race for Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk stands by the rumors that Liverpool FC is very interested in Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané:
Asked on the FC Bayern Insider Podcast whether it was true that Liverpool was interested in Sane, Falk said: “That’s true. Mohamed Salah, he really hasn’t missed a TV camera recently to complain that Liverpool haven’t offered him a new contract. Now Liverpool have responded via the press.
“I think that’s been leaked a bit. He was supposedly offered one year. Salah is said to have wanted three. Now the question is, can you agree on two or do you get someone else? And Leroy Sane has moved on to the list alongside Omar Marmoush, who they are also focusing on from the Bundesliga. With Leroy Sane, of course, they say he’s available on a free transfer.
“He has experience. He knows the Premier League. So that’s very attractive. And at Bayern, he’s a bit of a backwater at the moment. There have been no talks yet [over a new contract there]. There has been no offer.”
Bayern Munich traveled to Mainz 05 for a Bundesliga showdown against a club that has been somewhat of a surprise in Germany this season.
The Bavarians were tired, weary, and lacked focus in a terrible first half that found them down 1-0 at the half, before ultimately succumbing to Mainz in a 2-1 defeat that was extremely frustrating.
Let’s talk about how it all went down and more on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show. This is what we have on tap:
- A look at the starting XI and what it could mean for Laimer and Leon Goretzka.
- A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
- Injuries and a lack of rotation made Vincent Kompany’s men very fatigued and sloppy.
- What else went wrong besides fatigue and sloppiness?
- Some final thoughts and takeaways on the match.
Real Madrid is rumored to be very interested in Liverpool FC midfielder (and former Bayern Munich player) Ryan Gravenberch. If Real Madrid makes a deal happen, Liverpool could pursue FC Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong:
If Liverpool lose midfielder Ryan Gravenberch to Real Madrid, they will look to replace him with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.
Per Defensa Central (via 90Min.com) though, Liverpool would only be willing to let Gravenberch leave if it can get Aurelien Tchouameni:
On the other hand, Liverpool would only allow Gravenberch to join Real Madrid in a swap deal which takes Aurelien Tchouameni to Anfield in exchange.
Manchester United could be getting serious about a pursuit of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres:
Manchester United have made contact to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres but will face competition from Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Barcelona, reports Corriere dello Sport, which adds that the 26-year-old will be available for €70 million rather than his €100m clause. The Red Devils hope he will replace Joshua Zirkzee, who is receiving interest from Juventus, Napoli and Internazionale.
Bayern Munich’s first half (for all intents and purposes) is almost over and while the team is wrapping things up on the pitch, there is a lot of work being done in the boardroom.
Let’s chat about what’s going on with the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show. This is what we have on tap:
- Vincent Kompany must figure out a way to rotate better. Bayern Munich has been lucky with players like Joshua Kimmich, Dayot Upamecano, and Kim Min-jae, but are they at-risk?
- Did Joshua Kimmich win the negotiation war with Bayern Munich? If so, what does that mean for Alphonso Davies? Speaking of Davies, there is a wild Real Madrid spin on why things might have soured between the two parties.
- Meanwhile, Leroy Sané could be reading the writing on the wall and is — allegedly — willing to take a pay cut.
- A brief Entertainment Rundown.
