Bayern Munich has been linked to Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres in recent weeks and per Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Bavarians are at least keeping one eye on the developments surrounding the 26-year-old scoring machine:
Bayern remain among clubs monitoring the situation of Viktor Gyökeres closely, in addition to Real Madrid. Nevertheless, the ‘concrete options’ for the striker include Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona. Gyökeres is likely to leave Sporting in the summer.
That seems reasonable, correct? Well, there is a more radical side to that story that implies that Bayern Munich views this as much more of an urgent situation if you want to take a gander:
Bayern Munich to hijack Manchester United’s bid to sign Viktor Gyökeres?

Now…it seems ludicrous that Bayern Munich would splurge on Gyökeres this winter or even next summer given the presence of Harry Kane. If you want to entertain the most wild Tinfoil Hat Theory, then maybe you could wonder if Kane has already told Bayern Munich that he is out and headed back to England this summer.
That does not feel all that likely as of now. If Bayern Munich does truly have interest in Gyökeres, it seems like it would be for a time period further out (perhaps in 2026?) should Kane decide that he is ready to go home.
Tottenham Hotspur could be ready to fully thrust itself into the mix for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Randal Kolo Muani. Spurs are joining AC Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Aston Villa:
Tottenham have discussed a move for PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani, who is expected to leave the French club this month, Ben Jacobs reports. The 26-year-old has struggled for form in Ligue 1 this season, scoring twice in 10 outings. PSG are open to letting Kolo Muani leave on loan but would prefer a permanent exit if the right opportunity is presented to them. Several clubs around Europe are reportedly interested in signing the France international, including AC Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Aston Villa. Spurs, meanwhile, are yet to make an official approach.
Bayern Munich travelled to Salzburg to take on the local Red Bull outfit for a friendly — and the Bavarians took full advantage of the home side’s hospitality for a 6-0 victory.
Bayern Munich was strong from start to finish and only had to thwart minor, pesky spells of relevance from Red Bull Salzburg until the regulars took to their warm and cozy spots on the bench in favor of the reserves.
Let’s talk about how it all went down and more on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show. This is what we have on tap:
- A look at the starting XI and what was surprising.
- A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
- Bayern Munich used the preparation wisely and actually looked good in dispatching Red Bull Salzburg.
- Some final thoughts and takeaways on the match.
It was not all that long ago that Christopher Nkunku was terrorizing Bundesliga clubs and becoming one of the most valuable assets in Europe.
My, how times have changed.
Now, the attacker is caught up in the web of Chelsea FC’s attacking group and cannot get enough playing time to warrant his lofty salary. Given that, he could be available — and Bayern Munich could be interested:
According to TBR Football, Bayern Munich are keen on signing Christopher Nkunku this month. The 27-year-old has started three of the 18 Premier League games he’s played this season, and given his situation, Bayern Munich are now ready to make a move for him in this transfer window. TBR Football states that Nkunku is a player that Chelsea don’t want to lose this month, however, the club know they can’t keep a player who is unhappy so may be forced to accept a ‘good money’ bid.
Eh…it seems very unlikely that Bayern Munich would splurge on an attacker this month. Nkunku’s versatility to play at a few positions across the front line is appealing, but likely not enough to push Bayern Munich to make a winter move.
Atlético Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also rumored to have interest in Nkunku.
Galatasaray does not think that Napoli loanee Victor Osimhen is going to skip town early despite the multitude of rumors surrounding the striker:
Galatasaray are “100% convinced” that Victor Osimhen will not leave the club in the coming weeks, according to Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg. The Nigeria international, who is on loan at the Turkish club from Napoli, has been heavily linked with Manchester United in recent weeks. However, negotiations are yet to take place with other clubs regarding a potential winter move. Osimhen, 26, has impressed for Galatasaray this season, scoring 10 goals in 12 league games.
Bayern Munich is back in action this week, but what should fans expect from the group by the end of the season? One trophy? Two? None?????
That is one of the hot topics we discuss on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show. This is what we have on tap for this episode:
- Expectations for the second half of the season and what we can reasonably expect Bayern Munich to win — if anything — this season. Also, who poses the biggest threat to Bayern Munich in the league? You might already know…
- Bayern Munich is dealing with a multitude of contracts issues, including talks with several key players (some of whom would be considered major parts of the foundation for the future). The potential for distraction is real for a lot of the players…will it affect Bayern Munich?
- Per Sport Bild, Bayern Munich is staying closely involved on Florian Wirtz’s negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen. Is waiting until 2026 for Wirtz a smart move — or will it have an effect on Bayern Munich’s long-term squad planning?
Liverpool FC seems like it could be ready to sell Darwin Núñez if it gets the right offer:
Liverpool are open to offers for Darwin Núñez and could accept bids in excess of £50 million for the striker this month, Football Insider has revealed. Speculation has continued to mount over the Uruguayan’s immediate future, with AC Milan and Newcastle United both being linked with moves in recent weeks. The transfer fee would allow Liverpool to make back a large percentage of the sum they spent to bring him in 2½ years ago. Núñez has found goals hard to come by this season, having failed to score in the Premier League since early November.
Manchester City’s Kyle Walker has been on shaky footing for months and could be given a chance to leave for Saudi Arabia:
Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker is a target for Saudi clubs Al Ahli, Al Ittihad and Al Nassr, the latter of whom would see him link up with Cristiano Ronaldo.
