FC Barcelona has been linked to Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams for months now, but the recent story linking Bayern Munich to the winger could have the Catalans feeling a bit nervous — especially because the release clause for Williams is rumored to be in the neighborhood of €60 million.
To complicate matters for FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain is also rumored to have interest in Williams:
Nico Williams attracted a lot of attention during the summer, after his impressive displays for Spain at Euro 2024. Barcelona were the most keen to sign him, although Athletic Club just managed to hold out for another year.
However, they may not be so lucky in 2025. In recent weeks, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have registered their interest, and according Bild (via Sport), the latter are expected to push hard to sign him during next summer’s transfer window.
Bayern have already been informed of all the player’s contractual conditions, and also the exact price of the clause, which is believed to be worth in the region of €58m.
Barcelona do retain some interest in Williams, and left wing is a position that they want to address next summer. However, they would need the Athletic Club to stand strong on only joining them, as they cannot compete financially with Bayern or anyone else.
Williams’ production this season (two goals, five assists in 23 games across all competitions) does not seem to warrant all of this attention. Any team pursuing him should be a little bit wary of that, even if he played a starring role for Spain at the EURO 2024 competition.
Dušan Vlahović is still a prime candidate for both Chelsea FC and Arsenal FC:
Talks over a new contract between striker Dusan Vlahovic and Juventus have come to a halt. Chelsea and Arsenal are waiting to see if they can make a €70m offer to persuade him to leave.
The Winterpause allows us some time to reflect on the good, the bad, and the ugly from the first half of the season.
In this three-part series for Bavarian Podcast Works, we will breakdown each position group — Attack, Midfield, Defense — discuss each player and provide rating for how we feel they have played so far this season.
Chuck and Samrin break down the attacking group. Here is some of what the duo discussed on the show:
- A breakdown of each attacker, what they did well, where they are lacking, and how they rated overall.
- Is this the end for Thomas Müller — and if so, what should he do next? MLS? Stay in Germany?
- Why Jamal Musiala has been one of the great players for Bayern Munich — and in the world — this season.
- Harry Kane was really good, but what could he change to take his game to the next level.
Bayern Munich stars Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, and Joshua Kimmich were named to WhoScored.com’s Bundesliga Team of the Year for 2024:
Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies has been closely linked to Real Madrid, but at least one star in Spain might prefer Davies look elsewhere — Kylian Mbappé.
As it turns out, Mbappé would prefer to see his team get AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez:
Recently, reports from some French outlets (h/t Defensa Central) suggested that Davies might be considering a contract renewal with Bayern Munich, potentially staying at the Allianz Arena for longer.
According to these reports, Mbappe would apparently celebrate this decision, as it could mean Real Madrid would shift their attention to another target, Theo Hernandez, who plays for AC Milan.
However, despite these circulating rumours and speculation, there is no need for Real Madrid fans to worry. The situation with Mbappe and Davies remains far from settled, and Madrid’s focus on strengthening their squad remains clear.
Meanwhile, Mbappe has shown a positive attitude since his arrival at Real Madrid and has impressed many with his dedication to his craft. As things stand, his commitment to performing well on the pitch is all that matters, and he continues to stay focused on doing his best for the team.

Towering Bayern Munich goalkeeper prospect Tom Ritzy Hülsmann is ripping it up at St. Pölten:
Tom Ritzy Hülsmann’s loan to St. Pölten is a complete success. In 14 games he kept eight clean sheets. His future in the summer is open, he has received very interesting offers. His contract with Bayern runs until 2026.
Former RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku’s move to Chelsea FC has not panned out the way he wanted:
Christopher Nkunku has grown weary of his role as Chelsea’s perennial backup striker and is intent on securing a move away from west London. PSG, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are all interested.
