Jarquez Carter spent a lot of time in the backfield during the last two seasons at Newberry (Fla.) High, and so he was particular and focused on a pair of key aspects when it came time to make his college choice.
The 6-foot-2, 284-pound Carter wanted a program with coaching stability, and one where the defensive linemen were asked to get up the field and into the backfield.
Add in Ohio State’s proclivity to reach the college football playoff and produce NFL talent, and Carter found his home. He committed to the Buckeyes on Thursday, and highly-regarded defensive line coach Larry Johnson played a big role in it.
