Former prized recruit Denver Harris became a two-time transfer when he joined the UTSA football program early in the 2024 offseason, 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz confirmed. The Roadrunners are the cornerback’s third team in just over a year. He signed with Texas A&M as a blue-chip recruit in the 2022 class, transferred to LSU ahead of the 2023 season and departed from the Tigers program midway through the campaign.
Harris ranked among the best-available transfer prospects entering the month of February. He earned a four-star rating and graded as the No. 140 overall player in the 2024 transfer class, ranking 14th among cornerbacks. He became one of seven former power conference players to join the Roadrunners during the current cycle.
Harris was one of numerous transfers into the LSU secondary last offseason and offered tremendous promise to a reeling defensive backfield as the No. 2 overall player in the previous transfer cycle. He made three starts with the Tigers and appeared in five total games before missing the final seven contests for undisclosed reasons. In that limited action, Harris tallied seven tackles and a pair of pass breakups.
Off-the-field issues popped up throughout Harris’ young career. Texas A&M suspended the defensive back twice, and upon his arrival at LSU, he was involved in an altercation at a preseason practice. Geaux247’s Sonny Shipp reported at the time that Harris “had a pretty big role in the fight” that took place during practice, and that he nearly instigated the issue further afterward in the locker room. Harris missed multiple ensuing practices and was absent from the LSU team photo.
As a recruit, Harris consistently projected as a future college standout, ranking among the nation’s best cornerbacks throughout his time at Houston (Texas) North Shore. He closed the 2022 recruiting cycle as a four-star prospect, ranking No. 45 nationally and No. 7 at the cornerback position. He was a five-star recruit per the 247Sports Composite.
Harris enrolled at Texas A&M as part of the Aggies’ historic 2022 haul, which not only ranked No. 1 among all recruiting classes that year but also went down as the highest-rated class in the 247Sports era. Then-coach Jimbo Fisher landed eight five-star prospects in addition to the numerous other blue-chippers.
Many of the stars in that famed Texas A&M class departed from College Station in the past two years, though. The transfer portal decimated the historic haul with players including Walter Nolen, LT Overton, Harris and many more leaving the program early in their careers.

During his first and only season with the Aggies, Harris appeared in five games and recorded 14 total tackles and three pass breakups. He showed much promise as a true freshman, recording a season-high four stops and one of his pass breakups against Clemson prior to his second suspension of the year.
