Jim Harbaugh is set to begin the 2024 NFL season as the head coach of the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers.
Harbaugh is known as much for his catch phrases off the field as his success on the field, an intricacy the Chargers’ front office knew plenty about before signing the ex-Michigan Wolverines head coach.
One of Harbaugh’s most famous catch phrases is viewed as an insult of Ohio State football coach Ryan Day, who took over for former national title winning head coach Urban Meyer in January 2017.
Harbaugh’s original anti-Ryan Day blast occurred in 2021 after the Wolverines defeated the Buckeyes, for the first time in 10 years, by a score of 42-27 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
After the game, Harbaugh took what is almost universally thought to be a shot at Day, saying, “Sometimes people that are standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn’t.”
