Donald Cerrone is catching some heat after comparing Istanbul to India during an in-depth explanation of his recent hair transplant surgery.
This year has been a wild one for “Cowboy” as the fan favorite announced his planned return to UFC in 2025. It’s unknown at this time who Cerrone will fight in his Octagon comeback, but fans are torn over his return. That’s because Cerrone is 41 years old and coming off a solid two years of steroid use. Fight fans don’t know what to think.
What’s even more confusing is Cerrone’s new look. After recently receiving a hair transplant that took care of his baldness it’s difficult to recognize “Cowboy” compared to what he used to look like. It’s hard to blame the former UFC contender because most would do the same if they had the money and time to do it, but others are hating on his decision.
The other issue fight fans are having is the fact that Cerrone accidentally compared Istanbul, Turkey to India while discussing his hair transplant. Cerrone thought he was going to be getting hair plucked out of his head on the side of the round, but in reality Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey and a hub of world-class facilities. Nothing like what Cerrone would have encountered on the streets of India.

“I got it locked down right now [in] Turkey Istanbul,” said Cerrone. “I could tell anyone now Hair Time is the company I went with. It’s world-class… Like the hospital’s world-class, the facilities world-class, [and] the hotel five star [and] everything about it.”
“I’m thinking [that] I’m going to Istanbul, Turkey like watching things on social media. Little Indian guys stirring making Hamburger sandwiches. That’s the place I think I’m going,” added Cerrone. “In my mind I’m thinking Istanbul is going to be a lot like India and it’s going to be just some dude pulling one dude’s tooth on the side of the road [and] me getting hair plugs next to him.”
After hearing Cerrone compare Istanbul to India fight fans came out in droves to fact check “Cowboy” and throw some shade in his direction. Check out some of the backlash below and let us know if you think it’s warranted:
