Along with our own Scotto’s report about the Hawks potentially breaking up their star backcourt, Shams Charania also reported that if Murray’s teammate, Trae Young, doesn’t feel like Atlanta is serious about putting a winner around him, a trade request could be next for the former Oklahoma standout
If Trae Young doesn’t feel the Hawks are planning to put a competitive team around him this offseason, there will be serious conversations about his future with the organization, per @ShamsCharania on @RunItBackFDTV.

One long-lobbied-on potential landing spot for Young, the San Antonio Spurs, might not actually be that interested, according to Jake Fischer:
San Antonio personnel would be committing front-office malpractice by not contemplating the opportunity to pair a league assist leader and high-screen maestro like Young to pair with Wembanyama. The Spurs have so far approached building around Wembanyama as an intriguing experiment, where they will weigh all different kinds of variables around their Rookie of the Year. However, according to multiple league figures with knowledge of the situation, any Spurs plans of maneuvering to bring Young to San Antonio have been vastly overstated. The Spurs, sources said, have expressed little interest in obtaining Young to date.
Fischer also reported that teams might actually prefer to trade for Garland over Young, an interesting debate between two of the league’s better still-young guards.
Young has a similar contract to Garland’s except his deal expires one year earlier and has a player option on it for the final year, one in 2026-27 worth $49.0 million. If both Young and Garland are actually placed on the trade block, the level of interest among suitors might just come down to which player teams think will age more gracefully into their big contracts.
