A diverse, talented group of 13 FCS college football players are finalists for the 2024 FedEx Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award, now in its 10th anniversary season. In November, each finalist is being profiled on TheAnalyst.com for his excellence both on and off the field.
Davidson’s Julian Rawlins is the definition of an all-around student-athlete, making a significant impact both on and off the field.
The senior is a two-time All-Pioneer Football League defensive lineman, but he also has established a strong presence in his community over his four-year career.
His dedication to serving the community has led to him being a finalist for the 2024 FedEx Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award.
The 10th annual award, named after the late schoolteacher and the wife of legendary Grambling State coach Eddie Robinson, is presented to a student-athlete in FCS college football who excels on the playing field, in the classroom and across the community. Rawlins is one of 13 finalists – one from each NCAA Division I FCS conference.
The winner will be announced on Dec. 10 and honored at the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Banquet on Jan. 4 in Frisco, Texas. (Here’s a look at FCS National Awards history).
Julian Rawlins was one of five undergraduates selected for the 2024 MHI Summer Research Internship in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The program consists of a 10-week mentored cardiovascular research project in which the students interact with lab members in their respective labs and meet with mentors weekly. In addition, the students attend sessions on responsible research conduct, a weekly journal club, and a career development series.
In addition to his selection for the MHI SUMMER internship, Rawlins has earned a 3.25 cumulative GPA as a biology major with a Pre-Med track to be a cardiologist. He also is earning a minor in Public Health.
Selected for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, Rawlins volunteers at the Ada Jenkins Center, a non-profit organization that helps those in poverty break the cycle and earn economic independence. He has spent time at the Room at the Inn in Charlotte, which partners with congregations of many faiths to open facilities to provide shelter and food for the homeless during the winter.
His Doris Robinson Award candidacy includes:
