A diverse, talented group of 13 FCS college football players are finalists for the 2024 FedEx Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award, now in its 10th anniversary season. In November, each finalist is being profiled on TheAnalyst.com for his excellence both on and off the field.
East Texas A&M’s Jewelz-Unique Demps has been one of the on-field leaders for the Lions over the past three seasons.
But that’s only been part of his impact.
The redshirt junior defensive back is heavily involved in multiple on-campus organizations and has served in various off-campus roles, leading to him being named a finalist for the 2024 FedEx Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award.
The 10th annual award, named after the late schoolteacher and the wife of legendary Grambling State coach Eddie Robinson, is presented to a student-athlete in FCS college football who excels on the playing field, in the classroom and across the community. Demps is one of 13 finalists – one from each NCAA Division I FCS conference.
The winner will be announced on Dec. 10 and honored at the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Banquet on Jan. 4 in Frisco, Texas. (Here’s a look at FCS National Awards history).
Jewelz-Unique Demps serves as the vice president of East Texas A&M’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), which aims to give student-athletes a voice in various educational and athletic experiences at NCAA member institutions. He’s an active member of the College of Business Graduate Advisory Board and the Lions Christian Fellowship.
Demps completed an internship for the MLB Global Event Operations this summer. The program is designed to provide students with experience in the diverse business operations of baseball.
In addition to his internship, Demps serves as a graduate assistant in the Division of Student Affairs, with a focus on student rights and responsibilities.
His success extends to the classroom, where Demps graduated with a 3.81 cumulative GPA in Technology Management. He’s enrolled in the graduate program in Supply Chain Management, also nominated for the 2024 William V. Campbell Trophy, awarded annually to the top scholar-athlete in all divisions of college football.
