The Dricus du Plessis vs. Sean Strickland full fight video showcases the night du Plessis became UFC champion for the first time.
At UFC 297, du Plessis and Strickland battled to a Fight of the Night performance. When the dust settled, du Plessis earned a 47-48, 48-47, 48-47 split decision from the judges to capture the UFC middleweight championship at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Jan. 20, 2024.
Du Plessis (22-2) then defended his UFC title against two-time UFC champion Israel Adesanya in his next outing at UFC 305 this past August. “DDP” defeated Adesanya via submission (neck crank).
Strickland (29-6) earned another title shot when he got past Paulo Costa. Strickland faced Costa in the UFC 302 co-main event, winning a split decision with scores of 46-49, 50-45, and 49-46.
Strickland now tries to get his UFC title back Saturday night in the UFC 312 main event against du Plessis.
