If Bayern Munich wants to nab promising young Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, they may have to seriously pony up — and even that might not be enough.
From a report in Sport Bild, as captured via @iMiaSanMia:
Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are in the race with Bayern for Jamie Gittens. Dortmund’s management is understood to prefer to sell the player abroad in order to avoid strengthening Bayern. FC Bayern are taking the competition with English clubs very seriously and hope that BVB will be forced into selling Gittens should they fail to qualify for Champions League football in 2025/26. Dortmund are currently looking for a transfer fee of €100m. Should Premier League clubs bid for the Englishman, Bayern are aware that completing a transfer on their end will be difficult [@cfbayern via @caughtoffside]
BFW Analysis
Does everybody cost €100M these days?
Gittens, 20, is a fine player — and he could blossom into something truly special. But is a Harry Kane? Not yet.
While Bayern Munich do probably need to refresh on the wings soon, that will be a challenge so long as veterans Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Leroy Sané hold onto their spots — and wages. Sané is fighting to land an extension while Gnabry and Coman are already set for a longer stay.
Between these factors, Gittens being English, and BVB not being eager to strengthen Bayern…all signs point to a big Premier League payday for Borussia Dortmund.
That’s even though Dortmund are not looking good for the Champions League — or maybe even Europe at all — this season.
