For many years, the Dallas Cowboys have had a nasty habit of losing early in the playoffs that has earned them lots of ridicule across the NFL.
But decades ago, they were one of the league’s iconic franchises, and in the 1990s, they won three Super Bowl championships in a span of four seasons with legends such as quarterback Troy Aikman, wide receiver Michael Irvin and running back Emmitt Smith.
Smith hasn’t minced words about the current state of the Cowboys, who went 7-10 this season and missed the playoffs.
Just a year ago, the Cowboys looked dominant in the regular season, especially on defense, only to get rolled in the wild-card round of the playoffs by the Green Bay Packers.
Smith said that loss was when he was “done” with his former team.
“‘I was done after we got smashed by the Packers. … I was done then,” Smith said, via FOX Sports: NFL.
“‘Who’s your daddy?’ kind of smashed!” 🤣

Smith mentioned that though Dallas was able to beat the teams it was supposed to beat rather easily this season, it was embarrassed by the better teams across the league.
There was some concern about the Cowboys coming into the season after they lost some key players during the offseason, but many still expected them to make the playoffs.
After a 3-2 start, they lost five games in a row, including blowouts to the Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans.
Dallas now has a new head coach in Brian Schottenheimer, who wasn’t exactly the first choice of their fans, as well as a top-heavy roster and a tricky salary cap situation.
It will not be easy for the Cowboys to bring in any reinforcements this offseason, which means Smith and other fans will likely have to endure more pain in 2025.
