Everton are seemingly unbothered by Virgil van Dijk’s controversial ‘cup final’ comment given their post on social media.
The Toffees celebrated a dramatic 2-2 draw against their arch-rivals Liverpool in the last ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
James Tarkowski scored a stunning equaliser in the eighth minute of stoppage-time to spark jubilation at Everton’s iconic home ground.
It prevented Liverpool from going nine points clear at the top of the Premier League and claiming their 100th win in the derby.
Abdoulaye Doucoure and Curtis Jones were both sent off following a feisty on-pitch brawl at the full-time whistle.
Liverpool captain Van Dijk spoke to the media afterwards and made a dig at their city neighbours amid the historic occasion.

“This is their cup final and they would try to do everything in their power to make it difficult for us,” he said. “It is a big boost for them but a blow for us.”
However, Everton don’t appear to have taken Van Dijk’s jibe to heart as one of their posts on X saw them cheekily fire back.
The Toffees posted a video of the players and fans celebrating at full-time with the caption: “Six more ‘finals’ left at Goodison.”
Everton are playing in their final ever season at Goodison Park before their home since 1892 is demolished and site is redeveloped.
David Moyes’ side have just six matches left at their stadium, with their last outing there set to come against Southampton on May 18.
The club will then complete their move to the Everton Stadium that’s situated at Bramley-Moore Dock ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Everton are ten points clear of the relegation zone and therefore look likely to welcome Premier League football to their new home.
It means fans will be treated to more Merseyside derbies, although they may never experience one quite like Wednesday night.
Beto gave Everton a dream start by slotting in the opener after 11 minutes after Liverpool were caught out by a free-kick.
Alexis Mac Allister moments later though before Mohamed Salah had the visitors on the cusp of victory midway through the second-half.
But an excellent volley from Tarkowski that flew into the roof of the net deep stoppage-time sealed a precious point for Everton.
A long VAR check followed by once the goal was confirmed, the roof was blown off at an understandably ecstatic Goodison Park.
Tensions boiled over when Everton midfielder Doucoure celebrated in front of the away fans at full-time and sparked fury from Jones.
Both clubs have since released a joint statement condemning racist abuse sent towards the former in the aftermath.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot was also shown a red card by referee Michael Oliver along with his assistant Sipke Hulshoff.
