Here are our suggested fantasy football Week 10 waiver wire pickups. Or, if you already know the players you’re after, skip straight to the initial release of our model’s complete Week 10 projections and rankings.
NFL bye weeks continue to roll along, which means that fantasy managers have plenty to navigate as they set their starting lineups for Week 10. With the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks all out this next week, there are some key players that are going to be absent as you attempt to bring home another win in your league.
Don’t panic though, we’ve got you covered with the latest information and advice to parse through as you set your waiver wire claims. Let’s take a look at who you should be targeting on the wire going into Week 10.
Week 10 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Advice
Running Backs
Jaylen Warren, Pittsburgh Steelers
If you’re a regular reader of these waiver wire articles, you’re probably getting tired of seeing Jaylen Warren’s name at the top of recommendations for the RB position. Unfortunately, there aren’t many other strong names to consider if you’re in need of a fill-in option heading into Week 10.
Warren remains in the territory of a player who can provide low-end Flex value if needed, given his current situation, but someone who would jump up the rankings significantly if Najee Harris were to miss time this season. Warren’s proven that he has the talent to be a key factor in fantasy football, but the opportunity has just not been given to him up to this point of the year.
He remains a valuable player to roster though due to the amount of activity there would be on the waiver wire if he were the known starter moving forward. We’re always going to advocate for securing those players ahead of the rush if you have the space.
Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons
Just like with Warren, Tyler Allgeier is racking up his frequent flyer miles on these waiver wire articles. When there aren’t any obvious names at the position to go out and target though, it’s absolutely worth highlighting the high-level insurance RBs that could turn out to be league-winning options down the stretch.
While Allgeier’s production has tailed off since his dominant Week 6 performance against the Carolina Panthers – just 87 rushing yards on 23 attempts the past three contests – he remains one of the most valuable assets in fantasy football due to the upside he possesses if Bijan Robinson were to go down with an injury.
Given the way the rest of the RB field has dealt with injuries this season, it seems almost inevitable that Robinson will deal with something at some point over the next few weeks. While we’d love for that not to happen, fortune favors the prepared. Go scoop up Allgeier if he’s still available in your league.
Ray Davis, Buffalo Bills
Another week of football and another instance of Ray Davis showcasing why he’s deserving of more opportunities in this Buffalo Bills backfield. In case you didn’t see it, Davis was able to take a short pass in the flat from Josh Allen and turn it into an impressive 63-yard touchdown.
For all RBs in Week 9, Davis was second in the entire league in terms of burn yards with 70, which he accomplished on just two targets. For context, Alvin Kamara was first with 76 burn yards on nine targets.
Davis is right on the precipice of turning into a weekly Flex option once the Bills give him more opportunities, but he’s also an incredibly valuable backup option, as we saw in Week 6 against the New York Jets. If we were to have a player who isn’t really contributing much on the bottom of our bench, we’re dropping them for Davis this week for the potential payoff down the line.
Wide Receivers
Quentin Johnston, Los Angeles Chargers
It may be time for us to adjust our prior opinions on Quentin Johnston. Last season, the former TCU WR was touted as an electric playmaker who could easily hit the ground running as a rookie in the Los Angeles Chargers passing attack, but he fell well short of expectations and had a disappointing inaugural campaign.
Fast forward to his sophomore season and Johnston has two performances within the top 10 of fantasy football through six appearances so far this season. Yet, while he is providing solid upside, it is worth noting that he hasn’t provided a ton of consistency.
While he can boast those two top 10 fantasy finishes at the WR position, he’s also finished outside of the top 55 WRs on three separate instances. All of this is to say he’s absolutely worth targeting as the top WR off the wire due to the talent level – he had an impressive 23.6 burn yards per target in Week 9 – but he should be viewed as a Flex option versus a locked-in starter moving forward.
That puts him in the 10% FAAB bid territory, which is in range of some of the other players we still have to discuss at the WR position going into Week 10.
Xavier Legette, Carolina Panthers
Xavier Legette was an incredibly talented and athletic player coming into the NFL, but a lack of route-running refinement signaled that he needed some time to develop before he could start to be a weekly contributor to fantasy football lineups.
That development may have happened quicker than some of us anticipated as Legette has now finished inside the top 36 WRs three out of the last four weeks. While the situation around him in Carolina is certainly going to hold him back from a production standpoint, he’s proving that he has the talent to be a factor for fantasy lineups moving forward.
With the scoring upside – three touchdowns in the last four contests – to pair with an impressive 83.3% open rate in Week 9, Legette’s worth adding and playing as a Flex option as early as Week 10 against the New York Giants.
Demarcus Robinson, Los Angeles Rams
Demarcus Robinson is another player who is a repeat listing on these waiver wire articles, but he’s fallen well short of expectations the previous times he’s been mentioned. In those instances, Robinson was set to be the presumed No. 1 wideout with Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua sidelined, but he does not seem to be able to settle in well to that role.
However, as the No. 2 or No. 3 option in the passing attack, Robinson and the offense appear to be much more comfortable and able to put up solid production, both on the field and in fantasy lineups. Over the past two weeks, Robinson has scored four total touchdowns and has finished as a top 10 WR on both occasions.
While it’s important to remain measured in our expectations and move forward with the presumption that Robinson is just a boom-or-bust Flex play for the foreseeable future, he’s certainly been providing week-winning upside recently and that’s hard to let sit on your league’s waiver wire yet again.
It’s not just that Robinson is getting lucky with touchdowns, though. He’s posting metrics like a 77.8% burn rate, an 88.9% open rate and a 55.1% big play rate in Week 9. He’s performing like a high-level asset for fantasy right now and he’s worth playing as a Flex option in Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins if the Los Angeles Rams are going to continue to perform this well as an offense.
Tight Ends
Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals
Fantasy managers are constantly looking for any type of TE who can give them decent production week in and week out. It’s a difficult position to get right, but if you can find the next breakout option on the waiver wire, you may be able to set-it-and-forget-it for the remainder of the year. Mike Gesicki may just be that next player after what he did in Week 9.
While Gesicki has had his chances of finding the end zone already this season, and has often been unlucky not to do more, he caught up in Week 9 with a two-touchdown performance to go with 100 receiving yards on five receptions against the Las Vegas Raiders.
With Tee Higgins sidelined, plus multiple other WRs banged up for the Cincinnati Bengals, Gesicki should have a much larger role in this offense moving forward. Add in the fact that Erick All is out for the year with a torn ACL and Gesicki should see more targets, even if Higgins does return in Week 10.
If you’re hurting at the TE position, or your main option is out this week on bye, Gesicki should be one of your top priorities.
