Saudi Arabia General Entertainment Authority Turki Alalshikh announced a big boxing card today (Mon., Jan. 20, 2025), and it features boxing stars Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney, but unfortunately, they are not fighting each other.
Instead, Garcia will fight former WBA super Lightweight titleholder Rolando “Rolly” Romero, while Haney will compete against former Light Welterweight unified champion Jose Ramirez.
Also on the card is an IBF heavyweight title eliminator between Martin Bakole and Efe Ajagba.
The boxing event will take place in May 2025 (the exact location and date will be announced later) and will be Ring Magazine’s first U.S. show since Alalshikh purchased the legendary publication. The massive boxing card will also be “in collaboration with” the fighting video game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves and developer SNK Games.
Garcia (24-1, 20 KO) has been out of action since his shocking upset win over Haney (31-0, 15 KO) last year (April 2024). His win got overturned to no contest after he failed both his pre-fight and post-fight drug tests for the illegal performance-enhancing drug Ostarine.
“King” was heavily fined and then suspended from boxing for an entire year. Haney also sued him for alleged battery, fraud, and unjust enrichment, but after four months, Haney dropped the lawsuit.
Haney has not fought either since losing his first professional boxing match.
While Garcia and Haney are not fighting each other, it seems that Alalshikh is setting up an epic rematch later this year—granted, if they both win.
