COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – 35 athletes arrived at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Training Center this week to participate in the 2024 USA Basketball Men’s U17 National Team training camp. This group will eventually be trimmed down to just 12 players who will travel to Istanbul to compete in the World Cup later this month.
The roster is loaded with some of the best high school players in the country. This includes the top-2 ranked prospects the class of 2025 — AJ Dybantsa and Cameron Boozer — and the top-2 ranked players in the 2026 class — Brandon McCoy and Tyran Stokes. These talented stars are playing alongside USA Basketball legacies like Cayden Boozer (brother of Cameron and son of Carlos Boozer), Kiyan Anthony (son of Carmelo Anthony) and Bryce James (son of LeBron James). Yet, despite this star power, we’re seeing some other players turn in impressive performances.
From an evaluator’s perspective, this is an ideal setting to get to watch prospects play — especially with a rankings update on the horizon. Not only are we seeing many of the country’s top players compete for a limited number of spots, but this fight is happening in a highly structured setting. We get to see which players can adjust to having less volume as well as acclimate to team concepts on both ends of the floor.
