But amidst transfer speculation — that Florian Wirtz will leave Bayer Leverkusen for Munich at some point, if not in the next summer transfer; also, that Leroy Sané himself may not be in the team’s plans any longer and will be allowed to depart on a free — Sané did not let himself think too much about the possibility of playing alongside Wirtz at club level.
“Flo is a great player, but I don’t know his future plans. I’m fortunate to be playing with Flo in the national team. When I saw him for the first time in the national team, I thought to myself: ‘Oops, what is that!’ — He showed tremendous quality very early on,” Sané said in remarks captured via @iMiaSanMia.
Oops, what is that! — now that is the kind of reaction you hope to be able to get from elite level teammates.
