It’s rare that I get news of a product that does something that’s never really been done. But every so often, something comes along to surprise me. And this year (well, 2024 and 2025), it seems like the launch monitor space is starting to evolve in ways previously unseen.
Late last year, it was the Garmin Approach R50. This year, though, the eyeballs are on Foresight Sports as they release the all new GC3S.
As the successor to the GCS, the GC3S has big shoes to fill. It’s not like it’s hard to follow a perennial award winner, right?
On the surface, the GC3S looks pretty darn similar to its younger brother: three cameras (hence the name) and that classic Foresight body shape and screen.
No, it’s not what’s on the outside that makes this device one of the coolest things I’ve seen this year. It’s what it does when paired with the Bushnell X3 Pro Link rangefinder that sets it apart. And, yes, in case you forgot, Foresight and Bushnell now fall under the same Vista Outdoor umbrella. We’ve all been waiting for a “collaboration” of this magnitude between the two leading technology brands.
So what do you get when Foresight and Bushnell get cozy with each other?
Let’s find out.
“S” stands for “Smart”
I’m not sure what went into the naming of the Foresight GC3S, but if you told me the “S” stands for “Smart” I’d have to believe you because I’m not sure there’s a smarter tandem of golf tech devices out there than the new GC3S and the X3 Pro Link rangefinder.
Here’s how they work.
The golfer (you) use the GC3S to learn your distances with each club. The GC3S then connects with the X3 rangefinder to share this actionable data. From here, the rangefinder is then able to suggest two clubs for you to choose from wherever you are on the golf course.
That’s right. It’s like a portable caddie that uses your real numbers collected on the GC3S to suggest the correct club(s).
But that’s not all it does.
Another crazy feature that the GC3S has is personalized “Play As” distances. Where the normal Bushnell rangefinder takes into account a general trajectory model when calculating slope, the new GC3S and X3 Pro Link use your personal trajectory to come up with a number that’s more accurate to your game.
Isn’t that nuts?
If that’s not enough, it also provides club dispersion data (overlayed on a virtual hole) so you know what your miss is with each club and it uses real-time location data to factor things like wind and weather into each shot.
That’s not the best part, though.
The technical tandem will run you $3,799. I don’t know if you remember but the OG GC3 comes in at around $6,000.
That’s one heck of a deal.
In a world full of gadgets and gizmos that claim to make you a better golfer, I’m having a hard time finding someone that’s actually doing it in a more beneficial way than Foresight Sports. You can shop the brand-new GC3S now.
