The Chicago Bears must be regarded as one of the early winners of free agency, having secured arguably the most sought-after coaching candidate in Ben Johnson.
Johnson, the former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator, had been courted for years before deciding to finally become the Bears’ head coach.
Not only does Johnson stay in the NFC North, but he also has the opportunity to compete against Dan Campbell and Matt LaFleur for years to come.
The division has become one of the best in the league, so Johnson has his work cut out for him as he tries to elevate a young Bears roster that is looking to take the next step.
Chicago has been fortunate to house some of the best players and coaches in league history, and Johnson hopes to make his mark on the organization.
Unfortunately, the franchise was dealt some sad news after it was reported former Bears head coach Dick Jauron passed away at the age of 74 via Adam Schefter of ESPN.
“Former Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills head coach Dick Jauron passed away Saturday morning, the Bills announced. Jauron was 74,” Schefter reported.

Jauron spent five seasons in Chicago as their head coach from 1999-2003, so the fan base got to know him fairly well during his tenure.
Jauran has extensive experience coaching in the league, having worked for teams such as the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Detroit.
He was also a former player, playing eight seasons total between the Cincinnati Bengals and Lions.
