Jamarion Batemon, the No. 54 overall recruit in the 2025 class, has committed to Iowa State, he announced live on 247Sports.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound shooting guard out of Milwaukee (Wisc.) Academy chose the Cyclones over West Virginia, Clemson and Marquette.
“I just felt like that was the best spot for me,” Batemon said of why he chose Iowa State. “They fit my competitive nature, they win and it’s a really good environment there.”
Batemon is the third commitment for TJ Otzelberger and his staff in this 2025 class joining Xzavion Mitchell and Macari Moore, both three-star ranked recruits.
“They just stayed consistent,” he added of what separated the Cyclone from the pack. “They just showed a commitment towards me and so I appreciated that especially because it was a long recruiting process and they were one of the first ones to come around. They stayed consistent but it meant a lot to me.”

Batemon was one of the biggest risers in the latest 2025 rankings update, skyrocketing from the No. 146 overall spot up to No. 54.
Batemon is a tough, aggressive, and confident two-way guard who brings great energy to the court, making for a hard-nosed and competitive defender and a high-octane shot-maker on the offensive end.
“Just a winner,” Batemon said of what he is bringing to Iowa State. “Doing whatever it takes to win. I can score really well but everybody can do that at the next level so just someone who does everything else. I do thing not everyone wants to do to bring home wins.”
