The Desert Ducks club has a new member.
Fresh off another unofficial visit to Eugene, four-star wide receiver Cooper Perry from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame Prep committed to Oregon on Wednesday over a handful of other finalists.
Here’s everything you need to know about the notable victory out West for the Ducks heading into the evaluation period.
WHAT COOPER PERRY SAYS ABOUT OREGON
“Oregon is the place to be for me and I believe it’s the best fit for my development with coaches like coach Dan Lanning, coach Junior Adams, coach Will Stein and especially coach Ra’Shaad Samples. They are hungry for a national championship and I’m excited to be able to compete for one every year and work hard on my development during the process.
“Being able to be around all these coaches with insane pedigrees on one team is something that is so important and cool to see because I know they can get me to the player and person I want to be. Oregon is the spot where I can grow as a person and player and I’m pumped to be a Duck.”
WHO ELSE WAS IN THE MIX?
Arizona State, Oklahoma and Washington were three other finalists among a vast list of scholarship offers that ballooned past the two dozen mark this offseason. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Perry made it to the likes of Arizona, ASU, Notre Dame and Ole Miss last fall, but Eugene was his most frequent destination and held all the buzz in the 247Sports Crystal Ball at the time of the announcement.
WHERE COOPER PERRY RANKS AS A RECRUIT
Perry is the nation’s No. 28 rated wide receiver and No. 2 overall player in the state of Arizona for the 2025 class, per the 247Sports rankings.
The recruiting win gives the Ducks their fourth four-star commit of the current class.
HOW COOPER PERRY FITS WITH OREGON
Adams likes his receivers to have scheme versatility and that’s exactly what Perry could bring to the table inside Autzen Stadium. He can line up inside or outside, with a lot of his damage at the high school level coming on underneath routes. He’s a versatile weapon that can do a bit of everything and should be a nice complementary piece in an offense that spreads the ball around well. Apart from featuring two 1,000-yard receivers last season, Oregon had a total of nine players with double-digit receptions in the attack.
The multi-sport star put up big numbers as a junior, reaching 1,190 receiving yards and 18 touchdown catches. He has shown off the tools that have made him one of the most productive pass catchers out West over the last two seasons — Perry, also a lacrosse player, is a savvy route runner who feels out soft spots in coverage and displays elite hand-eye coordination.
WHAT WE THINK ABOUT COOPER PERRY
247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins, who has been a scouting staple out West for decades, is a fan of Perry’s résumé.
“Versatile wide out who can move around and play in the slot or out wide,” Biggins wrote in the scouting report. “He’s probably more quick than fast right now but we like his initial burst and he’s one of the better receivers in the country after the catch. He has a lot of shake and wiggle in his game and is capable of taking a short screen or hitch, making multiple defenders miss and picking up huge chunks of yards.”
