Georgia is set to be without one of its top defensive players once again when it faces No. 1 Texas on Saturday.
Bulldogs All-SEC linebacker Smael Mondon, who has missed Georgia’s last two games due to a foot injury, is expected to miss the game vs. the Longhorns and it’s still unclear when he’ll be back in action for the Bulldogs, sources tell 247Sports and CBS Sports.
The foot issue seems to stem from an injury that Mondon worked through last season. According to sources, he aggravated it in late September and hasn’t played since the Bulldogs’ loss to Alabama Sept. 28.
Mondon, a former five-star recruit and early-round NFL draft prospect, had 17 tackles in Georgia’s first four games. A third-year starter, Mondon tallied 76 tackles and eight tackles for loss in 2022 and then 68 tackles and three sacks last year.
Texas is a 3.5-point favorite heading into the game vs. Georgia.
