There has been endless talk about Bayern Munich’s desire to renew star player Jamal Musiala’s contract. The club has also talked at length about making the German born midfielder one of the faces of the club, for now and the future. But little has been officially divulged about the financial nature of this new contract. While plenty of reports claim the former Chelsea FC youth player will become one of the highest earners at the club, such information has not been corroborated by the club officials.
Not that one would expect a club official to mention such details, of course. Yet reporters keep prodding about Musiala’s extension. This time, club president Herbert Hainer was the one hounded about the extension. When asked about if the club would be able to announce Musiala’s contract extension during Bayern’s AGM on Sunday, Hainer had this to say: “That’s up to Max Eberl and Christoph Freund, who are doing a great job and leading the talks,” Hainer commented, via @iMiaSanMia. “There’s no need to rush anything. Jamal is an absolute all-rounder, he came to us at 16 and has developed into one of the best in the world – I think his journey at FC Bayern is far from over.”
So should there be any financial limits regarding Musiala’s contract? “Let’s put it another way: We really want to keep him.”
One would have usually expected a financially conservative answer about Bayern’s financial prudence here, but instead Hainer left the door open to the interpretation that a humongous offer is indeed heading Musiala’s way. And that seems intentional.
