It is a wrap: The 2025 submission of the year already has a winner.
GLADIATOR 029 went down last night in Osaka, Japan, and in the featured fight on the card, Mongolian fighter Shinebaatar Bat-Erdene strangled Kai Yoshida with the incredibly rare leg scissor choke, also known as a teepee choke.
After a few seconds of standup, Bat-Erdene took Yoshida down and landed in side control. Yoshida eventually got back to his feet, and Bat-Erdene immediately jumped on his back and locked up a rear-naked choke. Yoshida escaped the tight choke and got back up. Yoshida threw a wild kick, which caused him to fall. Bat-Erdene jumped on him and tried for a kimura, but he transitioned to the scissor choke and put Yoshida to sleep.
Check out the incredible submission below:
On top of Bat-Erdene (4-0) continuing to be undefeated, the teepee choke was his first submission win of his career – which is pretty wild.
Yoshida (6-1) suffered the first loss of his professional career and snapped his six-fight win streak. At only 25 years old and with his exciting style, the Japanese fighter will absolutely bounce back.
