The 2024 NFL season has not been kind to the San Francisco 49ers, as their run back to the Super Bowl is in jeopardy after dealing with constant injuries on both sides of the field.
The 49ers lost Brandon Aiyuk for the year after he tore his ACL.
They will now be without Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason, who suffered knee and ankle injuries, respectively, last week in their loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan has been forced to make do with what he has left on the roster, though Brock Purdy’s been one of the few constants on the offense.
Purdy had a strong season before losing some of his weapons, but the young quarterback still has shown great poise and command of the passing game regardless of who’s suiting up.
As the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy is in a prime position to cash in and make exponentially more than he did on his rookie deal.
In fact, despite some speculation that Purdy might need to search for his next deal elsewhere, it appears the 49ers are set on bringing him back via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
“From what I am told, he is in fact still the guy. The 49ers still plan on locking Brock Purdy up on a long-term extension this offseason,” Rapoport reported.

Re-signing Purdy makes the most sense as he’s a quality starting quarterback who’s already familiar with the scheme.
The number is anyone’s guess, but at least San Francisco will have continuity at the position.
