Abhishek brought up his century in just 37 balls, leaving the England camp shell-shocked. His innings not only put India in a commanding position early on but also set multiple records along the way.
With his 37-ball hundred, Abhishek registered the second-fastest T20I century by an Indian batter. The record still belongs to Rohit Sharma, who smashed a 35-ball century against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017. However, Abhishek’s knock reaffirmed his reputation as an explosive top-order batter capable of dismantling bowling attacks in quick time. Abhishek went on to surpass Shubman Gill’s 126-run knock against New Zealand in 2023, making it the highest individual score by an Indian in T20Is. He eventually departed after playing a spectacular knock of 135 runs off just 54 balls, falling to Adil Rashid. His innings was laced with boundaries and towering sixes, keeping the Mumbai crowd on its feet throughout his stay at the crease.

India posted a formidable 247/9 in 20 overs, driven by a breathtaking 135 off 54 balls from Abhishek. The left-hander smashed seven fours and 13 sixes, dominating England’s bowling attack. Sanju Samson (16 off 7) provided an early boost, while Tilak Varma (24 off 15) played a supporting role. Shivam Dube (30 off 13) added late impetus, striking at 230.76. England’s Brydon Carse (3/38) was the pick of the bowlers, while Mark Wood (2/32) provided crucial breakthroughs. Jofra Archer and Rashid picked up a wicket each, but India’s aggressive approach kept them on the back foot.
