The Kansas City Chiefs are in a position to do what no other team in NFL history has done, and that’s “three-peat” as Super Bowl champions.
The Chiefs romped through the 2024 NFL season with a 15-2 record to secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
From there, Kansas City beat the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills on the way to Super Bowl LIX, setting up a rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles shouldn’t be underestimated, as they demonstrated their strength in the NFC bracket, although the Chiefs benefit from having Patrick Mahomes on their team.
The receiver corps in Kansas City is operating at its best with Marquise Brown, Xavier Worthy, and DeAndre Hopkins, but next season could use an infusion of talent.
With that in mind, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN believes the Chiefs could be in the running to acquire Cooper Kupp from the Los Angeles Rams.
“Doesn’t this seem like a Chiefs-type move? They pulled off something similar with DeAndre Hopkins at the deadline and could think about the same with Kupp,” Fowler said.
Kupp recently announced that Los Angeles will pursue a trade for him and that they will collaborate on his next home.
The veteran had started to be phased out of the Rams’ offense in favor of rising superstar Puka Nacua, so Kupp’s move to the Chiefs would make a lot of sense.
Kupp would get an opportunity to immediately contribute and compete for a Super Bowl in Kansas City, so it’ll be interesting to see if the team pursues him in the offseason.
