Can a new putter help with seasonal depression? Absolutely! Dr. Bettinardi recommends 360 grams of Tiki-themed stainless steel, stat!
A new tropical-themed putter may not cure the winter blues but the daydreams of Hawaii’s winter sunshine may alleviate the severity of the symptoms. Based in Chicago, Bettinardi has experienced some serious winter woe-derlands. If they say a putter will make winter more manageable, who am I to seek a second opinion?
Every year when the PGA Tour starts the Hawaiian swing, I look enviously at the sunny, warm weather on the TV while cold and rain mocks me from outside my window. I’m here for anything that can transform my January into a Hawaiian January.
The 2025 Bettinardi BB1 Tiki’s uncommon slant neck
The BB1 is Bettinardi’s bread and butter putter. This model shows up in every BB release, likely because it is the perennial fan favorite and sales leader. If customers like what you are selling, you keep selling it.
This is a limited-edition BB1, though, so Bettinardi needed to mix up the recipe a bit.
Ignoring the cosmetic elements, the most significant variation from the stock 2024 Bettinardi BB1 is the slant neck.
Unlike a plumber’s neck where the offset is created by a right angle at the top, the slant neck gradually transitions from the putter face to the shaft. You still end up with a full shaft of offset but the look at address is different.
Slant necks are not common but they have a loyal following. The 2021 Bettinardi SS18 Tiki had a slant neck and it sold out in a hurry.
The 2025 Bettinardi BB1 Tiki’s Floating Ghost Face
I really want the BB1 Tiki’s “Floating Ghost Face” naming to be a Wu-Tang reference. Perhaps Bettinardi used a Pair of Hammers to build these putters. If it’s not Wu-Tang inspired, that is a collaboration that needs to happen.
Killa Beez and Hex B’s unite!
Anyway, the Floating Ghost Face is milled with tribal designs at the edges but is surprisingly unmilled in the center of the face. Why would Bettinardi leave the center smooth?
Putter Face 101 dictates that the more material that strikes the ball, the firmer the impact will feel. Grooves in the face decrease the metal that hits the ball, making impact feel softer.
By going with a flat surface, Bettinardi has maximized firmness. This version of the BB1 should feel crisper and have more pop off the face than a stock BB1 with its Perpetual Fly Milled face.

Hawaiian frogs?
While the vast majority of tree frogs secrete toxins, Bettinardi has crafted one intended to secrete sunshine and good vibes.
When discussing the 2024 Bettinardi Tiki Queen B 6, I couldn’t help diving into the biology of the manta ray depicted on its sole. I had planned on skipping the science this time around but then I started researching Hawaii’s frogs.
Did you know that Hawaii has no native frogs or toads?
That said, there are at least six species of frogs that now call Hawaii home. Some frogs, like the tiny Coqui, were introduced accidentally when they hitched rides on ships and planes from other locations. Others were introduced on purpose.
The cute little Green and Black Poison Dart frog, similar to the one on the Bettinardi Tiki putter, was introduced to the islands to control invasive insect species. While this strategy is more environmentally friendly than blasting the island with insecticide, it can cause a big problem.
When you introduce a frog or other animal to a new environment, the new habitat likely lacks the frog’s natural predators that normally keeps its population numbers in check. The frog may cure the insect population problem but now, with a lack of predation, you end up with a frog population problem.
The accidental arrivals can be problematic as well. The inch-long Coqui frog may look cute but when it devours all of the native insects and croaks at 95 decibels, it’s really not that cute any more.
So, yes, Hawaii definitely has frogs but not all of them are welcome additions.
Final thoughts on the Bettinardi limited-run Tiki BB1 Slant putter
Let’s ignore all of that annoying frog science and focus on the coolness of this putter.
The Bettinardi BB1 Slant Tiki has everything that a collector would want. The production run is limited and the putter you are buying is noticeably different from the stock version.
Will a slant neck and Floating Ghost Face actually cure the winter blahs?
Of course they will!
Rather than focusing on Old Man Winter’s outdoor shenanigans, this putter allows you to get lost in the labyrinthian black depths of the BB1 Tiki’s engravings.
Wrap your arms warmly around your new putter. Give the cute little green frog a name and take comfort in knowing that, at least in Hawaii, the sun is shining and the putts are rolling
