For years, people debated whether Bill Belichick was the greatest coach in NFL history.
Now, that narrative may need to change as he aims to achieve that distinction not only in the NFL but overall.
Belichick surprised the world by taking the UNC head coaching position.
Most people thought he would be a strong candidate for an NFL head coaching gig in the offseason, but he didn’t even want to wait.
That’s why former coach Jimmy Johnson believes there’s something ‘strange‘ going on.
Talking on FOX Sports, he argued that as much as Belichick loves coaching, this is just strange.
“Don’t you think it’s strange the greatest coach in NFL history is not in the league.” @JimmyJohnson shared his thoughts on Bill Belichick becoming UNC’s head coach ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/j5bguVkDg4

That’s right on point.
We’re talking about a Super Bowl-winning machine, a great defensive mind, and someone who had the league in a chokehold for over two decades.
Some argue that Belichick only took the job because he was desperate and eager to get back to coaching, even if it wasn’t in the league.
Also, he had ties to the program because his father was an assistant coach decades ago.
Others believe he didn’t have much of a choice.
The League wasn’t interested in his services last season, and there reportedly weren’t many teams inquiring about getting him this year, either.
Whatever the case, this was a massive win for UNC.
Just like with Colorado and Deion Sanders, the Tar Heels will now strive to be a college football program on the rise, and they will most definitely be must-watch television.
