The New York Giants weren’t a very good football team this season.
That wasn’t much of a surprise, all things considered.
Daniel Jones had only had one decent season in the league, yet GM Joe Schoen repeatedly chose him over Saquon Barkley.
Fast forward to today, and Barkley ran for 2,000 yards en route to the playoffs, while Jones isn’t even on the roster anymore.
However, when asked about that, Schoen claimed he wouldn’t change anything about how he handled everything (via Talkin’ Giants).

Schoen awarded Jones a substantial contract after one average season, frustrating his best player by assigning him a franchise tag and consistently offering lowball contracts.
The fact that Jones was released midway through the season was the biggest admission of failure in the entire league.
Some believe it should’ve been more than enough reason to fire Schoen.
Then again, John Mara doubled down on him and Brian Daboll for the upcoming campaign.
That lack of accountability rarely leads to success in sports.
To add insult to injury, the Giants won a meaningless game late in the season to play themselves out of a potential franchise quarterback in the NFL Draft.
They don’t seem to have a clear plan or path back to contention, and it’s hard to envision them being much better in the foreseeable future with this same brass of decision-makers.
