When it comes to national teams, new kit news only come up about once every other year, unless the occasion presents itself. This time, it has. The German Football Association (DFB) will celebrate its 125th year in existence come next year, and adidas has made a kit for the occasion.
According to the good people at Footy Headlines, this is what the kit should look like:
The kit is predominantly white, of course, with black sleeve cuffs and a black collar. There does not seem to be any specific design or pattern. It looks not too dissimilar from the 1974 World Cup winning kit, featured in the lead art. A large, faded federal eagle is on the left chest, surrounding a retro DFB logo, which has been replicated to resemble the first ever DFB crest. The adidas logo, meanwhile, will be used in Trefoil form.
One other notable thing is that the kit, despite being a one-off, will apparently be released in both short and long sleeve form. Although this is pure speculation from the writer, it could be because long sleeve shirts were common in the retro days. Again, one can refer to the lead art, which shows Franz Beckenbauer in long sleeves lifting the World Cup trophy.
According to Footy Headlines, the kit will be released in March for the first international break of the new year. It will most likely be worn in the Nations League double header against Italy as Julian Nagelsmann’s men hope to advance to their country’s first ever Nations League Finals.
