FSV Mainz 05 and Eintracht Braunschweig have confirmed a new loan arrangement for German youth international Niklas Tauer.
Twenty-three-year-old defensive midfielder Niklas Tauer will spend another year away from his parent club. The Mainz prospect – who switched loan locales from Schalke to Braunschweig in the January transfer window – will remain with the Lower Saxon lions for another season. Tauer has made a total of 16 league appearances for Schalke and Braunschweig this year.
Tauer also has a total of 19 Bundesliga appearances to his credit for Schalke and Mainz. He helped Bo Svensson’s Rheinhessen upset RB Leipzig on opening day of the 2021/22 campaign in his top flight debut. Braunschweig recently secured another season of 2. Bundesliga football for themselves with a win over SV Wehen Wiesbaden last Sunday.
