The Bayern Munich men may have forgotten how to score on Wednesday but at least the ladies still brought their shooting boots.
It was only a friendly but the FC Bayern Frauen enjoyed a productive showcase match against Young Boys in a 7-0 win.
Alara Şehitler got the scoring early in the 10th minute after running onto a smart layoff from Sydney Lohmann to lash home from range. Shortly after, Pernille Harder pounced on a loose back-pass in the opponent’s own box to snatch a second for Bayern. It may be a friendly but Harder was pressing as relentlessly as she does in the Women’s Champions League.
The third Bayern goal was the most spectacular of them all. Tuva Hansen crossed from deep to find an on-rushing Harder in the box, who beat the goalkeeper to the ball and flicked her header backwards over the keeper and into the goal. Teammates erupted into jubilant celebrations before the ball arrived in the net.
Georgia Stanway struck home from a corner to make it 4-0 going into the break.
The second half saw sweeping changes by Alexander Straus as well as the return of Mala Grohs after treatment for a malignant tumor diagnosed in November.
Linda Dallmann (53’), Lea Schüller (60’), and Laila Portella (84’) rounded out the scoring in the second half, tidy finishes all.
