The Mariners and Twins are finalizing a trade that will send second baseman Jorge Polanco to Seattle, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.
The clubs have not confirmed the deal, which will include four players moving to Minnesota, according to a report from The Athletic’s Dan Hayes: reliever Justin Topa, right-hander Anthony DeSclafani, outfielder Gabriel Gonzalez (No. 79-ranked prospect) and Minor League right-hander Darren Bowen.
Though Polanco had been the Twins’ iron man from 2019-21, playing almost every game as a fixture toward the top of the lineup, lingering knee issues and recurring hamstring troubles held him back in ‘22 and ‘23 — though he remained a productive, switch-hitting cornerstone to the lineup when healthy. Polanco, 30, slashed .255/.335/.454 with 14 homers and 48 RBIs in 80 games last season.
Minnesota had exercised its $10.5 million club option on Polanco in November.
