Ohio State’s 2024 transfer class is modest in size with just six newcomers joining the program this offseason, but the caliber of the players in that haul is unmatched, making the Buckeyes an unquestioned offseason winner. Ryan Day compiled the nation’s No. 8-ranked transfer class, picking up more five-star commitments than any other program in the cycle and taking advantage of the numerous high-profile departures from Alabama, adding three former Crimson Tide rosterees.
Not only did the Buckeyes amass impactful talent through their recruiting efforts, but they also filled positions of need, including the quarterback spot. Most of the incoming transfers reside on the offensive side of the ball, but Ohio State also landed a massive pickup for its defensive backfield, welcoming top-ranked prospect Caleb Downs at the safety position.
With four schools joining the Big Ten next season and Michigan fresh off a national championship, Ohio State recognized the need to bolster its roster ahead of a critical campaign. Day accomplished just that and has his program poised to enter the year as the conference favorite and a national title hopeful.
