NC State pulled out a thrilling win at Cal in Week 8, giving the program a much-needed spark heading into its bye in Week 9. Quarterback CJ Bailey had one of his best games in an NC State uniform against the Golden Bears. The freshman completed 69% of his passes for 309 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.
12. BOSTON COLLEGE EAGLES (4-4, 1-3)
Week 9 Result: Lost to Louisville, 31-27
Boston College went winless in the month of October, dropping a nail-biter at home to Louisville in Week 9. The Eagles get a much-needed bye week. The health of quarterback Thomas Castellanos factored into the team’s struggles. This is a chance for him to get healthy.
11. WAKE FOREST DEMON DEACONS (4-4, 2-2)
Week 9 Result: Beat Stanford, 27-24
Wake Forest picked up its second-straight win and got to .500 in the ACC with its win at Stanford. The Demon Deacons are 3-0 on the road for the second time under Dave Clawson and the sixth time in program history.
