Being a player at Bayern Munich is a very difficult assignment. Beyond just the caliber of players or the standard of training, the scrutiny aimed at players at this club from both the decision makers at the club and the media outside of it is a heavy responsibility that is difficult for most to deal with. Even those with special talent and elite skill can be ripped apart by the unstable beast that is Bayern, so when young players such as Michael Olise join the club, there is always the chance things go badly.
But it really has not. Olise has blossomed into a key player for the Bavarians in no time flat and, when asked if the Bayern jersey on him, wholeheartedly rejected the idea: “Not at all. It feels great,” Olise enthused, via @iMiaSanMia. “Every time I see the Bayern logo on it I feel I’m part of something huge. And I can also be happy with my first months here, I think. But I still want to improve and show consistent performances on the highest level. I have the feeling that there’s still a lot more possible. I’m working on that very hard every single day because I don’t just want to win a lot of titles with Bayern – I want to show good performances in those big moments, write history with this team, to leave an impact. If those weren’t my ambitions, I would be at the wrong place.”
Truly, Olise is saying all the right things. There is always the chance that the former Reading FC player will start to struggle in Munich and that these first months prove to be a false start, but, currently, that remains a faint possibility. The France international’s quality and supernatural calm, instead, seem set to make Olise a success at Bayern for years to come.
