The NFL MVP is one of the most prestigious honors in all of sports.
However, it is voted on by a media panel before the Super Bowl.
NFL legend Michael Vick recently mentioned a way they can change the MVP voting process to make it much more sound.
“I really feel like it should be decided once the season is over. … ‘Cause what if that guy is having … an MVP-caliber season and then he goes into the Super Bowl and win it,” Vick said, via “The Dan Patrick Show.”
.@MichaelVick thinks that #NFL MVP should be decided after the Super Bowl:
“Once a team wins that Super Bowl trophy, it might be a guy on the Super Bowl winning team… Because what if that guy is having an MVP caliber season and the he goes into the Super Bowl and wins it?” pic.twitter.com/QHeNpcsaUf

Speaking as someone who played MVP-caliber football during his 13-year career, Vick’s proposal sounds like an interesting one.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen have dominated the MVP chatter this season because of what they did in the regular season.
Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley, despite being a running back, should have a say in the race, too, as he rushed for more than 2,000 yards this season.
Now, Barkley has taken his team further in the playoffs than either of those top quarterbacks.
That is what Vick is talking about.
Though Barkley isn’t necessarily a better player than Jackson or Allen, his impact on his team has taken it further in the postseason, all the way to the Super Bowl.
The playoffs are where the best players shine and nobody has shined brighter than Barkley.
In the future, the league could consider awarding the MVP after the Super Bowl in case one of the best players in the regular season ultimately guides his team to glory.
