Misfits Boxing 20 is scheduled to go down later TODAY (Jan. 18, 2025) at Co-op Live in Manchester, United Kingdom. The event is headlined by the 195-pound exhibition bout between former UFC welterweight title challenger, Darren Till, against ex-Bellator MMA contender, Anthony Taylor, on DAZN PPV.
What’s Hot:
Darren Till never quite lived up the expectations some had of him under the UFC banner, ending his run with the promotion with three straight defeats and having lost five of his last six. Now, “Gorilla” will attempt to secure his second straight win in the boxing world after a successful debut against Mohammad Mutie earlier this year. He will face a step up in competition against Anthony Taylor, who has experience in both the MMA and boxing world.
Taylor has a record of 4-1 in MMA, while he is 3-3 in the boxing arena. It’s hard to say how this fight will play out, but Taylor is obviously the more skilled boxer of the two. That’s not to say that Till — who will have a size and reach advantage — can’t pull off a win. This is an odd pairing to say the least, but the way the boxing world is set up these days, these are the type of fights were getting.
Original Card vs. Actual Card:
Tommy Fury was originally set to face Till on this card, but he ultimately withdrew from the event after Till threatened to use MMA skills during the boxing match. As a result, Taylor agreed to step in as a replacement.
How The ‘Prelims’ Look:
Adam Brooks is a news and media personality for GB News who took his talents to the boxing world, and has two impressive knockout wins over Bachir Fakhouri and ex-Gladiators UK star Rhino. He will look to lock down his third win in boxing against the social media influencer who goes by the name Gavinio, who will be making his boxing debut.
In Heavyweight action, British rapper, Kak Hatt, will make his boxing debut against BBCC Gareth — real name Gareth Kelly — who is a member of the Bad Boy Chiller Crew (Yes, seriously) and who will also be making his boxing debut.
Little T and Afghan Dan are both rappers from Blackpool, England, with a rivalry that dates back years. What started as both men putting out diss tracks against one another will now be settled inside the boxing ring. It’s something, I’m sure, a lot of hardcore rap fans would love to see from their favorite rappers who may have beef.
Interest Level: 5/10
In the co-main event, Wade Plemons will face The Masai Warrior in a 200-pound affair. Plemons currently works for DAZN as a Misfits commentator. During a recent press conference, he vowed to knockout out his opponent.
“A body, that’s what you are. On socials, in real life, you’re just a body for me to knock out. Saturday, you’ll find out. A lot of people don’t really know me outside of commentary. Everybody thinks I’m the nice guy. If the people really want to know who the bad guy is, we can start this right now,” he said via DAZN.
As for the Masaid Warrior — real name Moziah Pinder — he is a bodybuilder, model and actor who will be making his boxing debut after the 29 year-old’s fight against Harrison Sullivan was cancelled last November.
In a 175-pound bout, Ty Mitchell will face off against Tommy Hench. Mitchell has a professional boxing record of 3-2-0 and has spent some time in the ring with Tyson Fury as a sparring partner. Hench, meanwhile, seems to be too busy picking fights with old foes during weigh-ins.
Carla Jade and Melanie Shah will collide for MFB women’s lightweight title. Jade is a former ring girl who has now gone 2-0 since moving over to the boxing world. As for Shah, she is bareknuckle fighter, winning her BKFC debut against Mathilda Wilson back in 2022, but has since gone just 1-2 with the promotion. She will attempt to pick up her first win with boxing gloves on.
Sami Hamed and Ziggy Johnson will exchange blows in a 154-pound showdown. Hamed is the son of former boxer Prince Naseem Hamed, and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Indeed, Sami has the same showmanship that his father had, but has a long road to travel as he is at the start of his career with a 1-0 record. As for Johnson, he is a former bareknuckle brawler who shifted his focus to influencer boxing, but is is 0-6 as a boxer. Go figure.
Enjoy the fights!
