It was a quiet National Signing Day in Norman – for the better. Brent Venables and the Sooners added a quarterback to the fold in the form of three-star QB Jett Nieu, who flipped from rival Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma also staved off late runs from Texas and Texas A&M for five-star OT Michael Fasusi, the No. 12 prospect in the Rivals250. Fasusi sticking is a massive victory and highlights a haul littered with talent along with notable blue-chip additions such as four-star DL Trent Wilson, four-star DB Marcus Wimberly, four-star DE CJ Nickson and four-star RB Tory Blaylock.
Oklahoma’s Early Signing Period was lessened after four-star WR Cortez Mills flipped to Nebraska and four-star QB Kevin Sperry flipped to Florida State. Mills was a major win on the recruiting trail for ace recruiter Emmett Jones before the playmaker from South Florida inked with the Huskers.
Prediction: Fasusi will start from Day 1.
Fasusi has a stellar makeup at a premium position, and as Oklahoma retools this offense under new OC Ben Arbuckle, we anticipate the 6-foot-6, 285-pound Fasusi to be a huge part of rejuvenating the group up front at several potential positions.
